Sustainable disinfection

Sustainable disinfection contributes to the global goals

The 17 global goals that the countries of the world agreed on in 2015 include a large number of health, environmental and climate goals. Anolytech’s system makes it possible for businesses, whose operation is dependent on effective disinfection, to switch to an environmentally friendly disinfection method and thus contribute to several of the global goals and their respective sub-goals. Read more about Anolytech and the global goals.

Reduced water use

Access to drinking water is a global challenge and a concern for all countries in the world – even for those where access to drinking water is taken for granted. To economize with drinking water is therefore a responsibility all public and private businesses need to take.
In traditional disinfection of water systems, where harmful bacteria and biofilm have already taken hold, large amounts of water are often used to flush clean the pipes (often without the desired result). This means that billions of litres of fully usable drinking water are flushed down the drain every year, completely unnecessarily.
This waste of resources is avoided with Anolytech’s preventive system because our environmentally friendly disinfection solution AnoDes instantly and continuously kills attacking bacteria, as well as prevents the growth of biofilm in the water pipes.

A circular process

Traditional disinfection is often a linear process where environmentally hazardous substances are transported, used and give rise to residues that must be taken care of.Anolytech’s system is instead a sustainable circular process where AnoDes are manufactured on site from only water, salt and electricity. The absence of hazardous chemicals means that the residual products from AnoDes are harmless to the environment and humans. Once AnoDes is used up, it returns to its component parts: 99.5% water and 0.5% biodegradable substances and can go down the drain.

The system also gives rise to another circular process as the on-site production of AnoDes secures the business’s self-sufficiency in disinfection. Instead of constantly buying new products for surface and hand disinfection, with all that this entails in transport and packaging, AnoDes can be bottled on its own containers and bottles that are then reused. In this way, the environmental impact of the business is reduced and money can be saved.

Reduced transports and low operating cost

Since the business produces its own disinfection, with salt as the only external component, many transports and handling of hazardous chemicals and the packaging in which they are transported are avoided.
The salt, which comes in the form of tablets in sacks, is the only thing that needs to be replenished in the plant. Salt consumption is low, which further reduces the number of transports and provides a low salt cost per month. The manufacturing process is also energy-efficient, which is good for the environment and contributes to a low total operating cost.
